Kandor Graphics
Kandor graphics came up as department of info-graphics of the company Melkor. In the course of time this working lines was consolidated and increased in a way that became in a company of info-graphics. Today the company has been built as specialised production company in info-graphics and animation and it is centred on in the creation of a stable studio of animation with its head office in Granada.
Its aim is to realise animation films with international distribution and nowadays it works in the development of its first film ‘Góleor the scales and the sword’ (Góleor: la balanza y la espada). Parallel to this purpose the company suggests the possibility of keeping a department dedicated to follow doing works related to scientific info-graphics, special effects, Internet, and other areas that allow to increase its curriculum, to realise I+D and to capture and to form people for the department of animation films. Before becoming in Production Company, and during the time in which the company realised works and services of info-graphics, the company made itself an important curriculum in which works for NASA, FBI, John Malkovich, Lola Films are included.
It also has realised short films in info-graphics which have received different prizes (even it has been recently included into the catalogue of the biennial of Venice). The members of the company count also with a magnificent curriculum at personal level and have carried out works for Lucas Film or Paramount. The company have also carried out works of especial effects, scientific documental; works for video clips, marketing, virtual stage design, etc. Canal Arte Francia dedicated a special of an hour to the working method of the company.
Some of the most representative works are the following:
Short film ‘Estrecho Adventure’ with Descarte Films, with numerous national and international prizes. Choosing and including in the catalogue of the ‘Biennial of Art in Venice’. Chosen by Canal Plus + for the especial programme ‘best short film of the year’ and by Metropolis of TVE2 within the cycle ‘short circuit’. It was exhibited during the six months in Alphaville cinemas (Madrid). It was chosen as representative of the catalogue of the Andalusian cinematographic batch, during the last International festival of young directors of Granada.
Info-graphics for the film ‘The Dancer Upstairs’, directed by John Malkovich and produced by Lola Films. Images of animation for the first film directed by John Malkovish presented in the Cinema Festival of Sudance.
Info-graphics for the short film ‘smell well’ with the production company V punto M. with José Coronado, Paula Vázquez and Ramón Langa. Sequences entirely in info-graphics were carried out and other that mix the real image with info-graphics, with the apparition of a totally visual character.
Emulation of crystallisation experiments in gravity 0. Video in charge of the Higher Council on Scientific Research (CSIC), European Spatial Agency (ESA) and NASA in order to reproduce a set of virtual experiments before realising the real experiments in Discovery during the mission S T S -95. The crew of the spacecraft travelled to Granada to check and give the results. Within this way the company has already realised 3 works.
Info-graphics directed for seminars about Genetics. FBI. It is a video of representation for some seminars about Genetics imparted by the FBI in collaboration with the Professor José Antonio Lorente from the chair of the Legal Medicine.
‘Virtual Travel to the interior of the cranium’. It is a series of four documental and interactive DVD carried out entirely by means of Info-graphics. It is a co-production with the Spanish Anatomical Society and the Park of the Sciences and the collaboration of Puleva. One of the documental has obtained the 3rd prize of the international festival for the best scientific video Filmobidos (Portugal), snake of gold to the best international scientific video and the 2nd prize of the international festival of scientific cinema in Zaragoza.
Info-graphic Accident Reconstruction for different insurance companies. It is dealt with an important achievement since for the first time in Europe an animation by computer was accepted as a proof (and not as a support of a proof during a trial), laying the corresponding case law. The main national and international channels and specialised magazines such as MUY Interesante which dedicate an article and one special about this topic.
Serie of publications for Internet and animations about health topics. Puleva Networks.Animation series about the five senses, organs and other themes related to the health, nutrition and comfort for Puleva Salud, realised by the company Puleva Networks. Besides multimedia applications and design works and creation of characters have been realised; promotional Video of Info-graphics, info-graphics for the video of the Companies Group INDITEX (Zara, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius, Pull and Bear) realised with the production company V Punto M; ‘Lorca’s universe’ with the Park of the Sciences; animation series for a programme for the planetarium of Madrid, Coruña, Pamplona y Granada, showing Lorca’s visions (in info-graphics) about the elements, just as the animations with its drawings respecting the line and the original appearance. Animations have also realised showing Lorca’s hand writing a letter with his own writing. Virtual Scenery spectacle of dance ‘Nigthmare’, performed for the first time in Paris.
It is made the documental video for trial about the explosion ‘Grand Caffe Cappuchino’ (Palma de Mallorca). Video of 10 minutes is also made realised in info-graphics showing all the process that originated the explosion of the Grand Café Cappuchino in Palma de Mallorca. It was accepted as a poof during the process.
Info-graphics for musical videos was also made. Dalur Discos. EMI. Virtual travel to the museumPark of the Sciences. Multimedia application that showed the museum before of its construction. For the Park of the Sciences other works as ‘The organ Science and Art’ was carried out, multimedia programme about the organ world. And about the operation of these musical instruments. Or ‘a mouse into the moon’, info-graphics for a tale that teaches notions of astronomy to the children.
Today many resources of the company are dedicated to the development of the film ‘Goleor: the scales and the sword’ finding itself in development and financing. In order to do so national and international contacts have been realised, and it is expected that the production was initiated soon. The movie is dealt with an ambitious film directed to a young-adult audience and it is foreseen its international marketing.
