ZACARÍAS ZOMBIE

"Zacarías Zombie" is the title of the animation short film made by the students of the 2nd formation course that Delegation of Cordoba and Provincial Consortium of Economic Development have promoted, in collaboration with Provincial Delegation of the Ministry of Employment of the Junta of Andalucía.

The short film as means of communication and as artistic expression is a formula very useful for young people in order to convey their restlessness and worries, because this allows them a great freedom to show their creative capacity. Students have chosen this formula with that a double purpose we have tried to obtain. On the one hand, properly advised, they have applied the techniques learned during the formative period, and on the other hand, they have found the proper way in order to express their feelings and ideas.

All has been materialised in a work, which has not been possible without the bet of the public institutions to develop to the talent and the creativity of our young people.

This short film is inspired in the Spanish satiric tradition, rooted with force in our literary and popular culture, from Quevedo up to romances of blind people. These people go from to town narrating cruel events and more or less macabre, in which there was always a degree of irony and much of social critique.

This is one of not very often that in an animation product in Spain, the Anglo-Saxon resources as inspirations are abandoned, in order to take directly from Spanish popular culture.

Our students display the satirical critical spirit that sublies in Zacarías Zombie with a great mood and in an ironic tone. At their way, they have transmitted us an intelligent denounce about the lack of understanding and the scorn those people who are different in our society, those who are not folded to the dictations of the majority, so that the obligatory nature of the established submission to canons, the lack of respect by the diversity, the intolerance., generating therefore one more violent and crueller society.
