Conferences

The Festival’s warm reception and the ever-growing number of visitors each year has captured the attention of important Spanish production companies wishing to take part in Animacor’08 in order to show their latest productions in a didactic and enjoyable way, with access for all audiences.

This activity is designed so all those interested in the world of audiovisual creation might learn more about the origins of each project, the creative process, the characteristics of the design used or the technology used on the production of one specific film. The artists themselves will be the ones who explain the development phases they work through before reaching the final product, all ready for commercialization and distribution.

The Barcelona based studio Kotoc was founded in 2005 by Freddy and David. Its strong team does the entire development process of production, from the creative beginnings through to the final creation.

Its work has been seen by more than fifteen million Spaniards on television through the Cuatrobots pieces for the UEFA Euro‘08 campaign on TV channel Cuatro.

In 2003 it produced the short film La Habitación Inclinada, nominated for the Spanish Film Academy’s Goya Award, and it has been awarded at the Sitges Festival, among others.

While they work on image projects for TV channels and corporations, promotions, music videos, advertising and short films, they are also preparing their new project: the comic series Los Extras. Directed by Freddy Córdoba Schwaneberg with an original screenplay by Óscar Dalmau and Óscar Andreu, Los Extras might become a landmark series because of its innovative nature, which combines 3D with illustration and collage.

Animacor ‘08 is hosting this company for its two conferences to explain to the public two different creative processes in animation production.

3D in Animation

Freddy Córdoba, director of Kotoc, and David Diéguez, executive producer, will show the public the creative process from the point of view of 3D animation directing. They will explain the work process in successive phases of modeling, animation, lighting, rendering, pipeline, etc.

The second conference will present the public with the work process in animation from the artistic directing point of view.

Rubén Córdoba, art director and director of the company Freddy Córdoba, will give a detailed explanation of the phases of this line of work through sketches, illustrations and storyboards, etc.

The Cromosoma company visits Animacor‘08 on its twentieth anniversary.
