Animacor

The Association for the Development of Animation Industry (ANIMACOR) is born with the aim of starting, impelling and developing the animation industry in Cordoba and in Andalusia.

ANIMACOR is formed as an association in which the common interests from public organisations (Delegation of Cordoba, the City Council of Cordoba, Provincial Consortium of Economic Development and the University of Cordoba) converge, and Animation Productions Milímetros S.A., converge in order to get the purposes mentioned.

The precedents of Animacor is turned into the year 1999, when the X Cartoon Forum was celebrated in Cordoba, the annual meeting which European industries of the animation film celebrate sponsored by the MEDIA Programme from the European Union. As a result of the activities developed, as the excellent perspectives of development and expansion of this economic activity as the lack of material and human mediums necessary for the consolidation in Cordoba and in the rest of Andalusia were stated.

Considering these lacks and the possibilities of generation of employment and richness of the sector, the Delegation of Cordoba has been impelling the formative activity by means of the realisation of Courses of Techniques in Animation Film, Seminars and another set of activities since 2001. These are co-finantiated by the Provincial Consortium of Economic Development and the Delegation of Employment of the Junta de Andalucia. All this process comes together with the built of the Association for the Development of the Animation Industry, ANIMACOR, which celebrated its constituent assembly on June 20 in 2003.

The constituent organisations of ANIMACOR are the Delegation of Cordoba, the Provincial Consortium of Economic Development, the University of Cordoba, the City Council of Cordoba and the Animation Production Company Milímetros Dibujos Animados, S.A. The main purposes of the association are: 

• Supplying Cordoba of the Andalusian Centre of Formation in Animation and Audio-visual Plastic Arts, which the permanent formation of the human resources demanded by the animation industry guarantees.
• Sensitising to the public administrations so that it facilitates the implantation, development and consolidation of infrastructures which the beginning and implantation of an industrial weave of competitive animation at international level can be allowed.
• Canalising the initiatives and demands of the animation industry in Cordoba and its provinces, promoting the interchange of experiences with other provinces, autonomous communities or countries with tradition in this type of sector.
• Favouring the creation of small and medium enterprises (SME) of the sector.
• Carrying out the realisation of all type of publications and audio-visual or written in a divulging or formative way material related to the purposes of the animation.
• Promoting and organising the celebration of any event (fairs, exhibitions, saloons, meetings, courses, etc.) related to the audio-visual sector, which contributes to the attainment of the purposes of the Association.
