AVÁNDALUS: the portal for audiovisual production and co-production of Andalusia
AVA Foundation LogoThe Audiovisual Foundation of Andalusia is pleased to present the Portal for the Promotion of Andalusian Films and Audiovisual Works (www.avandalus.org), at the 3rd International Animation Festival ANIMACOR 2007.
This website is an initiative from the Andalusian Audiovisual Foundation, with support from the Andalusian Innovation and Development Agency IDEA (the Regional Development Agency of the Andalusian Government, which is part of the Department of Innovation, Science and Business of the Regional Government of Andalusia), and in collaboration with the Andalusian production company associations AEPAA-APRIA (Association of Independent Production Companies of Andalusia) and PECAA (Platform of Andalusian Audiovisual Businesses and Professionals).
Avándalus Portal ImageSince its presentation last May, Avándalus has been a pioneering tool on the Spanish audiovisual scene by linking our sector with innovation and the latest technology. Since it was started up, it has brought in more than three hundred Andalusian productions, which are divided into animation, documentaries, short films, full-length films, multimedia, and television; in addition to the dozens of projects seeking co-production at home and abroad, through our International Co-production Opportunities.
The purpose of this tool, which attends to the demands of the Andalusian audiovisual sector, is to promote the Andalusian film and audiovisual industry, to assist Andalusian companies and professionals in their national and international expansion, and to encourage co-production initiatives between production companies based in the region and other Spanish and international companies.
The portal has already been presented at MIPTV, Mercadoc 07, Festival of San Sebastián, Festival of Alcances, Festival of Granada CINESDELSUR, Discop of Budapest, Annecy in France and CITV Pekín. We are now coming to Animacor 07 and we will soon be at the Seville Film Festival and the Spain TV Expo in Miami.
Thanks to the experience we gained with the three Catalogues of Andalusian Audiovisual Works, which includes the most recent projects set into motion by the Andalusian community in 2004, 2005 and 2006, and which promise great growth in this strategic sector, the AVA Foundation has optimized the dissemination of this practical and heterogeneous work among the international agents involved in the distribution and purchase of productions in the main markets of Europe, Asia, and the United States. The design and elaboration of Avandalus.org has come out of this experience.
In addition, the Audiovisual Foundation of Andalusia is coming to Córdoba in order to present an Animation Series as part of the 1st Andalusian Audiovisual Festival of Córdoba, which is organized by the AVA in collaboration with the Vice-Rector of Students and Culture from the General Management of Culture of the University of Córdoba, the Andalusian Film Archives, and the Regional Delegation of the Andalusian Institute of Youth in Córdoba.
The series, put together using the Catalogues of Audiovisual Works from 2004 and 2005, will be held during the 2007/2008 academic year, every Tuesday 7 pm. – 9 pm. at the Regional Delegation of Córdoba of the Andalusian Institute of Youth (Adarve, 2). On the fourth showing, the animation series will coincide with Animacor, and will screen some Andalusian animated films such as El cubo mágico from the Córdoba-based production company M5 Audiovisual; The Tell Tale Heart, by the Granada-based Kandor Graphics; and Eddie, from the Malaga-based production company Toma 27.
