Manager

Manager of ANIMACORAs we approach this year’s International Animation Festival in Córdoba, promoted by the Association for the Development of the Animation Industry, I should like to stress the key role played by the Spanish and European animation industries in ANIMACOR´06. The Spanish and, by extension, the European animation industry faces a great challenge: to produce high-quality work that can compete in the international market with the work of the major players in the sector at world level.

Since it was created, one of the main aims of the Association has been to foster the consolidation and strengthening of the animation industry as a key element for future development and growth. For that reason, we have promoted a series of business-related meetings intended to serve as a platform for all professionals, and for the industry in general.

Multilateral forum of coproductionThe first of these was the “International Meeting of Spanish and Portuguese Producers”, held during the First International Animation Fair in Cordoba, in October 2004. This was followed by the “International Meeting of Spanish and German Producers”, held in 2005. For the Second International Animation Festival we are working closely with the AEPA (the Spanish Animation Producers’ Association) to organize a “Multilateral Producers’ Forum”, which will be attended by producers from France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany and Spain, and by two television companies from each of these countries.

I Audiovisual forum of AndaluciaI should also like to note that the First Andalusian Audiovisual Forum, an event run jointly with RETA (the Andalusian Technology Park Network), held last June, was highly successful; a large number of people took part, and some interesting conclusions were reached.

Finally, as Manager of ANIMACOR, I am convinced that, in spite of the numerous obstacles to rapid progress, our work will in the medium term contribute to strengthening the audiovisual industry, a sector with a bright future. It is our hope that this sector will become a major source of jobs and incomes for the province of Córdoba.
