Director

Antonio Zurera. Director de Animacor Over the years in which I have been professionally involved in the animation industry, I have been a jury-member for a number of competitions, including CARTOON D´OR; I have also given lectures and classes, and have acted as coordinator for a number of workshops and seminars. However, the first Festival I directed was Animacor '05.

It is therefore a great pleasure to serve as Director of Animacor '06, following my appointment by the Association for the Development of the Animation Industry. ANIMACOR´06 has become a fascinating challenge, since I am keen for the Festival to come up to the expectations prompted by the success of last year’s event. I trust I will be fully equal to the commitment and responsibility involved.

I should like to stress that ANIMACOR has already attained some renown in professional circles, even on the International Film Festival circuit. In just two years, we have managed to identify Córdoba with the animation industry. This year, however, we have sought to raise awareness of the Festival; coverage has been extended to other towns in the province, and we will be holding the first European animation market, to be attended by producers and television companies from the top five European animation-producing countries.

It is therefore my pleasure to invite anyone who is interested to take an active part in the Festival, joining in the scheduled events, workshops, etc., and watching the competition entries, to be screened at the Film Institute, as well as the special tribute to Oscar-winner Frederick Back. For a few days, the city and province of Córdoba will play host to the world of animation; come and experience it, and enjoy an alternative leisure and cultural activity.

I am grateful for the trust placed in me by the organizers, and especially for the work of the ANIMACOR team and the staff at the Provincial Consortium for Economic Development; I am also grateful for the assistance kindly provided by the Maintenance, Protocol and Press Departments of the Cordoba Provincial Council.
